How do Indian Bhajans come to Switzerland
Some Swiss Sai devotees and musicians dedicate themselves to singing, playing and teaching these Bhajans. For this purpose they have edited books with the transcription from original Indian audio sources of 3 x 108 Bhajans (324 Bhajans) in western music notation.

Why do we sing Bhajans
In 1968 Sathya Sai Baba said: "Sing aloud the glory of God and charge the atmosphere with divine adoration; the clouds will pour the sanctity through rain on the fields; the crops will feed on it and purify and fortify the food; the food will induce divine urges in man. This is the chain of progress. This is the reason why I insist on group singing of the names of the Lord."

This view, famously articulated by philosopher Tom Regan in The Case for Animal Rights , argues that animals are "subjects-of-a-life." They have beliefs, desires, memory, and a sense of the future. Therefore, they possess inherent value (what Regan called "inherent worth") that is not contingent on their usefulness to humans.

A growing frontier in environmental and animal law is the concept of and animal personhood. While no country has fully granted human-equivalent rights to all animals, court rulings in countries like Ecuador, Colombia, and India have occasionally recognized specific ecosystems or individual animals as legal persons with rights that can be defended in court. 6. Conclusion

Modern policy shifts are increasingly driven by hard science rather than purely emotional appeals. Cognitive ethology and neuroscience have demonstrated that a vast array of species possess consciousness, emotional depth, and complex social structures.

The use of animals in circuses, marine parks, rodeos, and roadside zoos faces mounting public backlash. Documentaries and undercover investigations have exposed the psychological trauma suffered by wild animals kept in captivity. Many jurisdictions have responded by banning wild animal acts or outlawing the captivity of specific species, like orcas and elephants, which cannot thrive in confined spaces. Understanding the spectrum between these two concepts is no longer just an academic exercise; it is a practical necessity for voting, shopping, and navigating the moral landscape of the 21st century.

While often used interchangeably, "animal welfare" and "animal rights" represent two distinct philosophical frameworks for protecting animals.

The core principles of animal rights include: This view, famously articulated by philosopher Tom Regan

The most productive view today may be a : use welfare reforms to reduce suffering immediately while pushing for a long-term cultural shift toward respecting animal rights. As the law professor Gary Francione argues, the two are often in tension – but for the animals suffering on factory farms today, a better cage is still better than no change.

The philosophical schism occurred in the 1970s. When Australian philosopher Peter Singer published Animal Liberation in 1975, he introduced the concept of —a prejudice or bias toward the interests of one's own species. Singer argued that if we reject racism and sexism because they cause suffering based on arbitrary differences (skin color or gender), we must logically reject speciesism, which discriminates based on species. While no country has fully granted human-equivalent rights

Mammals, birds, and increasingly recognized organisms like cephalopods (octopuses) and decapod crustaceans (crabs and lobsters) possess sentience. This means they can experience positive and negative emotional states, including joy, affection, fear, anxiety, and physical pain. Studies show that pigs can play video games, crows can manufacture tools, and elephants mourn their dead. This growing body of evidence forces society to expand its circle of moral consideration.
