The film was directed by Tolib Khamidov , a 1956-born graduate of the directing department of VGIK (the All-Union State Institute of Cinematography), who studied under the legendary documentarian Alexander Zguridi. Prior to this film, Khamidov worked on "Besumno strast'yu ty sama ko mne pylayesh'" (1991), and would later direct "Letuchaya mysh" (1994), "Prisutstviye" (1996), and "Ponyat'. Prostit" (2006, 2017).
